Google Ads character limits

Google Ads rejects copy that exceeds the field. Headlines are 30 characters. Descriptions are 90. Paths are 15 each. Count before you paste into the editor.

RSA fields

You can add 15 headlines (30 chars) and 4 descriptions (90 chars). Google mixes them. Every headline must make sense next to every description. Count each field separately in the Character Counter.

Wide characters and extra assets

Display URL paths, sitelinks, and callouts have their own caps. If a headline shows a warning in Ads, it is usually a 30-character overflow, not a policy strike. Leave a 1–2 character buffer for trademark symbols.

Steps

  1. Draft each headline under 30 characters.
  2. Draft each description under 90.
  3. Verify in the Character Counter, then paste into Google Ads.
