LinkedIn About and headline limits

LinkedIn truncates in the feed and on mobile. Write to the cap, then preview on a phone-sized window. This is a character problem, not a word-count problem.

The usual caps

Headline: 220 characters. About: 2,600 characters. First-line of About is what people see before “see more,” so put the role and proof in the first 150–200 characters. Posts are a separate 3,000-character limit.

How to measure

Paste the About section into the Character Counter (with spaces). LinkedIn counts characters, including line breaks. Emoji count as more than one byte in some clients; keep a 20-character buffer if you use them.
