Flesch Reading Ease Checker

Rudolf Flesch’s Reading Ease formula rewards short sentences and short words. It does not know if your argument is sound. It does tell you whether a tired reader will bounce. Paste a draft, read the label (Easy through Very difficult), and compare it to who will actually open the page.

The Kincaid grade estimate sits beside the 0–100 score because many style guides quote grade level (“write at grade 8”) rather than ease. Both come from the same sentence and syllable averages.

Split sentences at “and” and “which.” Swap Latinate nouns for verbs (make a decision → decide). Keep necessary jargon, but do not wrap it in extra clauses. Re-score after each pass — a jump from 42 to 58 is usually enough for a public blog.
